Terms & Conditions

  1. Booking

    1. In order to confirm your booking we must receive a deposit payment of EUR 200,00 (EUR 230,00 if accommodation has been requested), which will be deducted from the final payment.
      Upon receipt of your booking and deposit payment we will send a welcome letter to you by e-mail confirming your enrolment. Please check that all dates and details of the programme are correct before booking your flight/train/bus ticket.
      The remaining balance must be paid at least 2 weeks prior to the course's starting date.
    2. No signatures are necessary for the agreement. Any booking or payment confirms the acceptance of the agreement with all these conditions. The Spanish Law shall apply to this agreement.
  2. Payments and Discounts


    1. Full fees must be paid (in Euros) at least 2 weeks before your arrival. Without the full payment Escuela La Ola can cancel the programme, and you will have no right to a refund.
    2. All bank charges will be your responsibility. If you are paying from a country outside the European Union, please add EUR 20,00 on top of the total amount.
    3. Payment of deposit and/or balance can be made in the following ways: By credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or by bank transfer.

      If you choose to pay by international bank transfer you should send us a copy of bank proof by fax to +34 91 447 65 13 or scanned by e-mail to payments@escuelalaola.com. Please indicate your name and purpose of the payment.
    4. Discounts cannot be accumulated and all of them have a set duration period. They cannot be used in conjunction with one another and are only applicable when you are eligible for them at the time of booking.
  3. School Holidays

    1. Escuela La Ola will be closed on National and Local Holidays (see calendar). No price reduction, refunds, credits, additional lessons or extensions of the course will be given for lessons missed when the school is closed.
  4. Placement tests & levels

    1. You will take a placement test prior to class assignment to determine the appropriate level. If the level of Spanish is unsuitable for the course you have booked, Escuela La Ola reserves the right to move you to a more suitable course.
    2. Any changes of levels/timetable you may require need to be approved by the Director of Studies and are subject to availability.
  5. Classes and Social Programme

    1. Lessons may be missed due to level testing and orientation activities on the first day of a course.
    2. If you miss a class it cannot be made up.
    3. In order to receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course, you need to attend at least 85% of classes.
    4. Escuela La Ola reserves the right to modify a course if it does not have the minimum number of students to be formed at a particular level or time. The modified course will always be of equal or greater value compared with the original course.
    5. In the case of unforeseen reasons classes might be postponed and held during a different timetable.
    6. If you are unable to attend the course you have booked because you do not have the appropriate language level after completing the initial level test, Escuela La Ola will offer an alternative course, or private lessons. The number of private lessons will be calculated according to the amount paid.
    7. Information about the social & cultural programme offered by Escuela La Ola should only be used as a guide and not as an accurate list of events.
  6. Accommodation


    1. Accommodation is usually arranged from the Sunday before the course begins until the Saturday morning after the course ends. If it is impossible to arrange arrival and departure times on these days, extra nights can normally be arranged on payment of a supplement.
    2. Twin rooms are only available for two people booking and travelling together.
    3. Any kind of physical or other problem (allergies to pets, special diet, medication, etc.) must be advised at the time of booking.
    4. In the event that a student is not satisfied with the assigned accommodation and is rightfully justified in his or her claim, he/she will be allowed to change to an alternative accommodation at no extra cost, as soon as a similar accommodation becomes available.
    5. The accommodation will be well equipped and all the expenses such as electricity, water, heating, etc. are included in the price. Internet access is not included in some cases. The telephone can only be used for incoming calls. Use of the telephone to make phone calls without previous authorization from the landlord is not permitted and the cost of such phone calls would be discounted from the deposit.
    6. You should inform Escuela La Ola in advance of the approximate time of arrival at the accommodation. In the case we do not receive the arrival details Escuela La Ola will not be held responsible for greeting nor picking the student up upon arrival.
    7. All students requiring accommodation need to provide a photocopy of their passport or ID on arrival at the school.
    8. All students requiring accommodation will be asked to pay a EUR 100,00 refundable key and damage deposit on arrival at the school. Any loss or damage that is caused by the student due to either negligence or by intention will be deducted from the deposit before the balance is reimbursed to the student at the end of the course. If there is damage and no one is directly responsible, the cost of repairs will be divided among all the students in the accommodation.
    9. The deposit is kept as guarantee and it will be reimbursed when the requirements below are fulfilled: a) The rent has been paid in full, b) the keys of the accommodation have been returned, c) no damage has been caused to the accommodation, furniture, etc. d) no complaint from neighbours or the police has been reported due to noise, parties, etc.
    10. It is not allowed to organise parties at the accommodation.
    11. No animals are allowed at the accommodation.
    12. In the case of a serious disciplinary offence and/or repeated bad behaviour, the student will be expelled from the accommodation contracted without the right to any refund.
    13. In the case of relatives or friends visiting the student, Escuela La Ola must be informed at least 2 weeks in advance to check whether it is possible for them to stay at the accommodation. If this is possible, the extra cost must be paid in advance.
    14. If, under any circumstances beyond our control, the prices of accommodation were to increase, Escuela La Ola would notify you in advance of such changes.
  7. Code of Conduct

    1. You are expected to attend classes, inform the school in case of absence and respect fellow students, teachers and staff. In the case we have also provided you with accommodation, you are equally expected to be a responsible tenant. Escuela La Ola reserves the right to expel students at its sole discretion, without the right to any refund, if it finds students in breach of its basic code of conduct.
  8. Airport Transfers

    1. Escuela La Ola can arrange airport transfers from Madrid Barajas Airport to your accommodation. You must confirm in writing at least 7 days prior to arrival your flight details: departure airport, day and time, arrival terminal, day and time, flight number, flight company.
  9. Travel documents and Visas

    1. Citizens of countries belonging to the European Union do not need a Visa to enter Spain. Students coming from other countries should obtain information regarding the requirements for obtaining a VISADO (VISA) at their nearest Spanish Embassy or Consulate.
    2. You must make your own travel arrangements and are responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, such as a valid passport and visa.
    3. Escuela La Ola will supply the necessary documentation for students to obtain a visa. The school will not be responsible for a Consular authority's decision whether or not to issue a visa. It is your responsibility to allow sufficient time to obtain a visa and you should check with the Consular authority regarding how long this is likely to take.
    4. If you ask the school to send you documentation by courier service/express delivery (not e-mail or normal mail), you will be charged for the cost of this express delivery/courier service.
    5. Should the visa be denied, our standard cancellation fees will apply (see 10).
  10. Cancellation, no show, abandonment of the course/programme

    1. Cancellations received before arrival will only be accepted in writing (letter, e-mail or fax). Written evidence of the cancellation is required and therefore cancellations made by telephone will not be considered valid. The day that notification is received in writing by the school office is the official cancellation day.
    2. Students are entitled to a refund if they cancel. However, they must pay a cancellation fee, estimated in the following amounts:

      If the cancellation is received with more than 21 days before the course start date, the full amount paid will be refunded except for the registration fee (EUR 50,00) and the accommodation placement fee (EUR 30,00) when accommodation has been booked.

      If the cancellation is received with less than 21 days before the course start date, the full amount paid will be refunded except for the registration fee (EUR 50,00) and, when accommodation has been booked, the accommodation placement fee (EUR 30,00) and one week's accommodation fees.
  11. Changes made to course bookings by the student

    1. You may, at the discretion of the school, change details of your course booking or postpone the starting date, provided that the school receives written notice of this from you. All amendments and postponements made once the initial booking has been confirmed are subject to a EUR 30,00 surcharge.
  12. Changes made to accommodation reservations by the student

    1. You can, at the discretion of the school, change your arrival date at accommodation with no extra charge if you inform us in writing with at least 7 days notice before the original arrival date.
    2. If you inform us with less than 7 days, accommodation will be charged from the arrival date on the initial booking.
  13. General

    1. Escuela La Ola accepts no responsibility whatsoever for cases of force majeure (according to law) or for students’ actions.
    2. The minimum age for attending Escuela La Ola is 18 years old.
    3. Escuela La Ola is not responsible for typographical errors and/or misprints contained in this website or brochures.
    4. The management of Escuela La Ola reserves the right to use all possible images/pictures taken during your stay unless you declare otherwise on your arrival at the school.
    5. Complaints, opinions, suggestions and/or requests made after the leaving date of the study and stay at Escuela La Ola can only be of an informative nature, with a view to improving our level of service, and do not oblige Escuela La Ola to refund money, unless legally required to do so.
